Optimise HR is an independent provider of HR services tailored to our client requirements.

How it all started

After an extensive in-house career, Elizabeth Cook spotted the need for tailored HR consultancy services for start-ups and small businesses that don’t yet have their own in-house HR resource. Recognising this need, Liz established Optimise HR in 2012 with the vision of bringing together a wealth of HR experience to provide businesses flexible and practical HR services as they need it, tailored entirely to suit their business needs.

Liz met Denise Thorn in 2017 through a client.  Denise wanted to return to HR consulting after a period of maternity leave and the client thought they might be able to help each other.  Liz and Denise quickly realised they share the same approach to HR and so they joined forces. 

As a team they have built a strong business and formed a trusted network of like-minded specialists to provide a wealth of experience, expertise and complementary skills to a wonderful collection of clients, some of whom have been with us since it all started.

What makes us different

Our approach is straightforward and pragmatic, offering a wide range of flexible HR services, tailored to our clients’ needs. We build trusted relationships so that our clients feel that we are part of their team.  We aim to cut through obstacles to provide practical solutions that build a positive employment environment.

Our typical client base

We have built long-term, trusted relationships with diverse businesses, from start-ups to established and growing SME’s to operating companies of global businesses.   Either we take care of our clients’ day-to-day needs where there is no HR resource or we install and/or support in-house HR teams. Generally, our clients operate in the financial services, legal, renewable energy, real estate and technology sectors and they are most likely to be professionals and specialists in their field.

Over the years, some of our clients have been sold on to larger organisations.  In these circumstances, we have successfully supported their transfer and integration into the new organisation.  Other clients have grown to a size where an in-house HR representative is required and, in these circumstances, we have supported the recruitment, selection and induction processes.  We see these outcomes as success indicators and in many cases, both post-acquisition and following the installation of an in-house team, we have been pleased to continue our relationship as an extended part of their team.
